"Red" Orange Pop

We were at Wendy's yesterday for lunch. Adam had a cup of orange pop. He said to me, "my pop is turning red."
I told him, "Your pop is orange." I was assuming he just named the wrong color.
He said back to me, "My orange pop is turning RED, I said."
I just laughed. He seemed to see red somewhere.
